Requirements elicitation and development is the process by which the business analyst engages in dialog with the stakeholders who have an interest in how a software solution must function. Stakeholders include organization leadership, managers, and staff working in the business domain that the solution will be used to support. Managers and technical stakeholders (e.g., architects, developers, and quality assurance testers) are also stakeholders.
The business analysis role exists largely to validate that the solution being built properly reflects the intent of the involved stakeholders.
